education
Tap into a wealth of knowledge and advice
At Paton and Lee we recognise the huge importance education can play in preventing equine disease and injury. Every year we hold FREE evening talks for our clients, with expert guest speakers and experienced equine vets on hand to answer any questions. We also hold two "Equine First Aid for Horse Owners" courses every year. These very popular practical courses provide information, skills and confidence that could be vital in a real emergency situation. There is a wealth of information for you on this website and on our YouTube channel and Facebook page, so have a good browse and remember that if you have any questions about your own horse's health our vets are always on-hand to answer them, just give the office a ring.
Veterinary students
We welcome veterinary students to see practice with Paton and Lee and have a proactive and friendly approach to their involvement and education. Unfortunately we are not able to offer work experience placements to students under 18 years of age. We generally restrict placements to two vet students at any given time to ensure that the students are busy and get the opportunity to see a lot of cases while they are with us. We recommend seeing practice between March and November when we are at our busiest and more is gained from the experience. All students must dress professionally and personal protective equipment is mandatory, including a riding hat and sturdy shoes or boots (we strongly advise wearing steel toe-capped boots). Please book places well in advance because we do get fully booked and don't want to disappoint. For further information and our Practice Manual CLICK HERE.
If you are a member of a riding club or pony club and would like to arrange a tour of the practice or a veterinary talk for your members, please contact the office using the form HERE.
