Past Events - "Safer Horse Rescues" Saturday 6th April 2013
We had a fantastic day at the practice with a Safer Horse Rescues demonstration given by the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service Animal Rescue Units from Baddow and South Woodham Ferrers.
The demonstration was given by AR3 supervisors (the highest level of animal rescue qualification), and included their £140,000 animal rescue vehicle and their full-sized horse mannequin. Real rescue techniques were shown and explained, along with the essential safety-features of any horse rescue. The modern equipment used in horse rescues was also explained and demonstrated.
Although the fire service were more than happy to give their time free of charge, Paton and Lee wanted to help them out so we asked for donations towards the Fire Fighters Charity. Thanks to the generosity of our clients were were able to raise a fantastic £150 towards the charity - a very nice thank you for the fire fighters who risk serious injury every time they go out to rescue a horse!
